Welcome to my blog thing

I'm a full-stack software engineer with 10 years building production systems across frontend, backend, and infrastructure. After three years leading engineering teams, I went back to hands-on work — now independently, helping companies build the right thing.
In my spare time I maintain a production NixOS homelab running 35+ self-hosted services; everything from NextCloud and Vaultwarden to local LLM inference with Ollama. I love to tinker. Whether it's architecting systems, wrangling Nix into submission, or diving deep into infrastructure problems; that's where I thrive. I also break a lot of things in the process, but by now I've learned enough to put them back together. Most of the time anyway.
This blog is where I document the interesting bits. All real world implementations, no hand waving.
Work with me
I work with small and mid-sized companies on the kind of software problems that need someone senior to own end-to-end. Usually that means:
- Custom web applications — internal tools, customer portals, anything that's outgrown a spreadsheet.
- Integrations and API work — making your ERP talk to your webshop, your CRM talk to your accounting, the things that should already work together but don't.
- Cloud and infrastructure — migrations, setting up sensible deployment pipelines, untangling whatever the last person left behind.
- Ongoing support and maintenance — for systems I've built, and occasionally for ones I haven't, on a monthly retainer.
And the occasional honest conversation about whether AI actually solves your problem or just adds risk.
I'm probably a good fit if you have a clear sense of what you want but aren't sure whether it's possible, or if you know what's broken but not how to fix it. Figuring out what to actually build is the part I'm best at.
Here's how I work: I'll tell you what I think will and won't work, even when it's not what you wanted to hear. I can talk about technical work without burying you in jargon, and I'll happily go deep with your engineers when that's what's needed. If your project needs help I can't deliver well, I'll say so and point you elsewhere.
A few things I don't do: mobile apps, design work, SEO and content marketing, or WordPress. (I have a friend for the last one — happy to introduce you.) I'm less suited to very early-stage startups still figuring out what they are.
